Blackburn Eye Kuranyi to Replace Santa Cruz

Schalke - Kuranyi

The Daily Mail claims that Blackburn Rovers will attempt to sign Kevin Kuranyi from Schalke 04 if Manchester City table one last offer for Roque Santa Cruz. (Read: Blackburn Reject City Offer for Roque)

The Sky Blues have been hot on Santa Cruz’s heels all January long, but the Riversiders have so far resisted any and all approaches from their mega-rich North West rivals.

However, it is understood that Mark Hughes & Co. are now prepared to meet Blackburn’s £20 million valutaion, meaning Sam Allardyce will need a replacement striker if the Paraguayan does in fact leave.

The Ewood Park boss has supposedly turned his gaze to Kuranyi, the Brazil-born German international who boasts 86 goals in 211 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke and Stuttgart.

Rovers won’t have much time to wrap up a deal, though, so Allardyce has also singled out Wigan Athletic forward Henri Camara as a back-up target.
