Olivier Kapo Was Close To Everton Switch
Football News – Wigan Athletic midfielder Olivier Kapo has revealed that he was near to a switch to Premier League rivals Everton last month, but said the move was called off after rumours of his party animal lifestyle were released to the Everton hierarchy.
The 28-year-old has impressed in his time playing in England since his move to Birmingham City from Italian giants Juventus, and it was thought he would make the move to Goodison Park in January.
The Ivorian born French international followed Steve Bruce from Birmingham City To Wigan Athletic last year, and has made 12 Premier League appearances so far for the Latics.
However, the former Monaco player has recently been out of sorts, and believes his inability to get a game for Wigan has caused his downfall.
The left-winger has even admitted that he would be happy to go out on-loan to another club in order to try and regain his form.
The France international is quoted as saying, “I am going through the worst spell of my career.
“I’m not getting games, and the worst part of it is that I’m being judged not on my footballing abilities, but on hearsay.
“I almost signed a deal with Everton, but it fell through at the last minute because people spoke about me and sullied my name.
“I would love to go out on loan now in order to play matches.”
