Dunga: Brazil Door Still Open For Amauri

Brazil Football News – The issue of which national team Juventus striker Amauri will play for continues to rage on – will it be Italy or Brazil?

Brazil coach Dunga had been reluctant to call up the former Palermo star, but apparently put in a late request ahead of the friendly match against Italy that was denied by Juventus.

“The doors of the national team are open to everyone. Those on the pitch that demonstrate form have the door open to them. We are here to give a chance to everyone [who deserves it],” said the 1994 World Cup winner, while being interviewed by Sky.

However, the coach hinted that it would be difficult for Amauri to break into the Selecao squad, because of the talent he already has at his disposal.

“It all depends on how the current Brazilian attackers do and what he [Amauri] does. We have Luis Fabiano, Adriano, Pato, Vagner Love…I need to bring players with different characteristics,” claimed Dunga.

He also had a comment on Roma midfielder Rodrigo Taddei, who has indirectly appealed to be called-up by Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi after not making an appearance for Brazil in his career.

“I must make particular decisions, I know there are many Brazilian players that, when they reach a certain age without playing for our national team, have a desire to make an appearance.”

Brazil are currently second in the South American World Cup qualifying section, behind Paraguay and ahead of Argentina.
