Chelsea To Offer New Deal For Didier Drogba

Chelsea - DrogbaChelsea are reportedly willing to offer striker Didier Drogba a new deal at the club, according to the News of the World.

The Ivorian had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, after a catalogue of injuries and poor form led to a series of disappointing displays in the early part of this season.

However, the arrival of Guus Hiddink appears to have rejuvenated Drogba, who has regained his best form and bagged four goals in his last seven games.

The 30-year-old scored home and away against Juventus in the Champions League to secure the Blues a quarter-final tie with Liverpool, as well as finding the net against Coventry in the FA Cup and Portsmouth in the Premier League.

These performances appear to have impressed new boss Guus Hiddink, with the News of the World claiming that the Dutchman has approached owner Roman Abramovich and asked him to extend Drogba’s current deal.

The striker joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2004 and his goals have propelled the Blues to two Premier League titles and an FA Cup during his time at the club.

His present deal is set to expire next summer, when he will be 32, yet that may now be extended further.
