According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has told owner Roman Abramovich to make Tottenham Hotspur an offer for Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Despite the striker scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances for Spurs this season, it is thought that manager Harry Redknapp does not consider him a part of the club’s long-term plans.

Hiddink knows the 27-year-old well as he is the Russian’s head coach at international level and it is claimed he believes he would slot into the Blues’ squad nicely.

Although the Dutch boss insists he will leave his post at Stamford Bridge in the summer to return to the Sbornaja setup, it is thought Abramovich is keen to hear his opinions on who Chelsea should move for at the end of the season.

Tottenham paid Spartak Moscow €15 million (£14m) to land the 6ft 2in forward in September 2008 and it is likely that he could leave White Hart Lane for less just one year on.
