Denmark Trash Albania 3-0

World Cup - Denmark v AlbaniaDenmark dominated possession over Albania from the opening stages, but lacked a cutting edge until left back Michael Jakobsen drilled a low shot just wide of the mark after 20 minutes.

It was just 10 minutes after Jakobsen’s strike that his fellow defender, Leon Andreasen, shot from distance to put the hosts in the lead.

Shortly before the break, Soren Larsen found enough space to turn in Dennis Rommedahl’s wonderful whipped in cross to make bring the home side’s tally to 2-0.

Denmark took their foot off the gas slightly after the restart, but still proved dangerous through Nicklas Bendtner and Christian Poulsen, both players coming close just as the game crept over the 50 minute mark.

The third goal arrived ten minutes from time when Poulsen’s persistance would pay off. The Juventus midfielder capitalised on a catalogue of errors from the Albanian backline following a corner.

Denmark remain tied at the top of Group One with Hungary, with goal difference keeping the Danes in pole position.
