Mourinho: Inter Are One Step Closer
Although tonight’s 1-0 victory against Udinese increased Inter‘s lead over Juventus to nine points, coach Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to celebrate victory just yet.
“The Scudetto is closer now but the last word has not been said yet,” he said to Datasport.
“It’s not done yet, there are still a lot of points up for grabs, we need at least five more victories. We even managed to extend our lead over the runners-up, although on paper this round seemed more difficult for us.
“Chievo played a great match [against Juventus] and we were lucky enough to win, thanks to an own goal and a possible penalty denied to [Fabio] Quagliarella.”
The coach also wanted to praise today’s opponents Udinese, who have often managed to get results against Inter in the past.
“They have a lot of good players and they put us in difficulty,” he continued. “[Davide] Santon was a bit tired and this time he did not play a great match, while I saw a very good Maxwell, he’s a player I like a lot.”
These last statements are perhaps a bit surprising, as the Brazilian full- back is rumoured to be on his way out due to a lack of playing time. He recently lost his place in the squad to 18-year-old youth product Davide Santon.
