Massimiliano Allegri To Be Next Milan Coach?
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, if Carlo Ancelotti accepts the managerial role at Premier League giants Chelsea, Cagliari tactician Massimiliano Allegri will take over the Milan bench.
Allegri is only in his first Serie A season, but he has worked wonders in Sardinia and has taken the Rossoblu to the brink of UEFA Cup qualification, despite a horrendous start to the campaign that saw them drift to five straight defeats.
Ancelotti has been given an ultimatum by the Diavoli and will be shown the door if he fails to deliver a top-three finish.
However, he is being heavily linked with Chelsea and could decide to move to England after almost eight years spent in Milan, regardless of the Rossoneri’s final position in the table.
Therefore, the Via Turati directors are already weighing up different options and Allegri seems to fit the bill.
Milan general manager Adriano Galliani recently expressed his admiration for the 41-year-old and stressed that he has all the qualities needed to become a great coach.
It is also suggested that Allegri has reached a gentleman’s agreement with Cagliari president Massimo Cellino and will be able to liberate himself from his contract with the Isolani if he receives an offer from a top side.
