Luis Figo Stayed At Inter Because Of Jose Mourinho
Inter midfielder Luis Figo admits he was close to leaving the club before deciding to stay when Jose Mourinho took the reigns from Roberto Mancini last summer.
Figo believes he has achieved plenty since arriving from Real Madrid back in 2005. The Portuguese playmaker reveals things are done differently under Mourinho as he explains his days at San Siro.
“I think I have always adapted myself well in the best ways possible to play and win,” Figo told Don Balon magazine.
“I was close to leaving because Mancini didn’t give me a chance. However, I decided to stay when Mourinho arrived because I knew I could be an option for him.
“No-one guarantees you will play, but it’s good to be an alternative.”
The Nerazzurri are heading towards another title as they lead Serie A with a seven point advantage over Milan.
