Hamburg Eyeing Schalke Striker Kevin Kuranyi

Schalke Football News - Kevin KuranyiGerman outfit Hamburg are closely monitoring the situation of former German international Kevin Kuranyi. The striker currently plays for Bundesliga side Schalke, according to Sport Bild.

HSV are in the market for a new striker due the forthcoming departure of Ivica Olic to Bayern Munich this summer. The Croatian international will leave Hamburg on a Bosman move.

Kuranyi is reportedly unhappy with life at Schalke and is eager to leave the Gelsenkirchen outfit in the upcoming transfer window. Kuranyi’s current contract at the Konigsblauen expires in 2010 and Schalke may opt to cash in on the forward this summer. The former Stuttgart star joined Schalke in 2005 and quickly became an important first team member. He has scored 53 league goals in 127 league appearances for his current employers.

The report suggests that HSV face stiff competition from Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United and Werder Bremen in the race to secure Kuranyi’s services.
