Bayer Leverkusen have been after Eren Derdiyok‘s signature for over a year now, but the club have revealed that they have finally managed to sign Swiss forward from Basel.

The 20-year-old, who has 12 caps for Switzerland, has signed a four-year contract at the Bay-Arena after the clubs reached an agreement just before the DFB Pokal final, which sees Leverkusen face Werder Bremen.  The transfer fee involved has not as yet been revealed, though the Swiss outfit had previously turned down a Leverkusen offer of €4 million.

“We are delighted to have been able to sign such a high quality striker who will compliment our attack,” Leverkusen business manager Wolfgang Holzhauser told the club’s website.
