Martin Jorgensen Renews Fiorentina Contract
According to violanews, midfielder Martin Jorgensen has signed a one year contract extension with Fiorentina.
The 33-year-old’s current contract was set to expire this summer, but he has been offered a renewal by the club at the eleventh hour, as the Viola play their last game of the season against Milan this weekend.
The former Udinese star had previously voiced his displeasure that negotiations were proceeding so slowly, but the two parties have finally reached an agreement. Jorgensen was decisive during the recent 1-1 draw with Lecce, grabbing a last minute equaliser, that may have worked in his favour.
The Danish international has only made 11 appearances under coach Cesare Prandelli due to both injury and selection choices, but has done enough to earn an extension until June 2010.
He joined Fiorentina in 2004 and has made almost 130 appearances for the club in Serie A since that time.
