Milan Targets Palermo’s Fabio Simplicio
According to Calciomercato.it, Milan have turned their attention to Palermo winger Fabio Simplicio for the winter transfer market, as Leonardo looks to add further strength to his midfield.
Milan director Ariedo Braida has opened up dialogue with Simplicio’s agent Gilmar Rinaldi.
Leonardo is a keen admirer of the midfielder, who is seen as an alternative to Clarence Seedorf.
As things stand, Simplicio is in negotiations with the Rosanero over a new deal. The Brazilian’s current deal expires in 2010, and he has until January to pen an extension. If he refuses, Milan will attempt to swoop.
However, they face competition from Lazio. Former Palermo coach Davide Ballardini wants his ex-pupil with him at Formello.
Furthermore, convincing president Maurizio Zamparini is unlikely to be an easy task. Voices suggest that Milan will show their hand again in the summer, should their winter plan fail.
