Gregory van der Wiel

The Daily Mirror claims that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keeping tabs on young Ajax Amsterdam defender Gregory van der Wiel.

The Gunners have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action, after first noticing the player while scouting Thomas Vermaelen last year.

Van der Wiel, valued at £7 million, is also being monitored by Italian giants Juventus, while Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also known to be long-time admirers.

The full-back’s impressive form for Ajax has seen him break into the Netherlands setup this year, and he has already been capped five times – scoring an impressive three goals in the process.
