Serie A Football News - Radio Blue reports that Genoa recorded a well deserved victory over Fiorentina earlier tonight, after edging out the Tuscan-based side by a 2-1 score line.

Raffaele Palladino and Giandomenico Mesto grabbed the goals either side of the break for the Grifoni, to ensure that they recorded a much needed result, allowing them to climb into the top six.

“It was a match that we wanted to win at all costs, so we are very happy to do exactly that,” Mesto stressed.

“The coach knows how to get the best out of his players, so this performance came at the right time for us.

“We have had a few problems recently, but that is a normal thing for any squad. Hopefully this is now behind us, and we can move on.”

Genoa will be hoping to continue their winning form on the weekend, when they travel south to take on Palermo in Sicily.
