Football Transfer NewsAccording to a report, Corinthians are set to make another effort to try and tempt Real Madrid star Guti to join them in January.

The Sao Paulo-based giants tried to sign the troubled midfielder last summer but were told that he was to be a key figure in Los Merengues’ plans for the current campaign.

Manuel Pellegrini had used Guti sporadically before including him in the starting line-up last week in the Copa del Rey against Alcorcon. However, the player was reported to have slammed the coach at half-time during that infamous encounter.

Though the incident was played down at the time, the trainer left the veteran out of the Madrid squad that played Getafe and again for the forthcoming match against Milan.

Now Corinthians are set to make a move, Gol state, and could receive a favourable response this time as both Guti and Madrid may view the idea as a good one.

According to the report, the 33-year-old has made it no secret that he would like to play in an “exotic location” before he retire, so a move to Brazil could be just the ticket.
