Fiorentina Striker Adrian Mutu Injured for Three Weeks

Serie A Football News – Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu unfortunately suffered an injury during the Viola’s 5-2 Champions League victory against Debrecen this week, Mutu damaged the meniscus in his right knee and was forced to undergo surgery on Friday.
According to reports, that the Romanian would be out of action for up to a month. The club have now released a statement on their official website, revealing that the operation was a success and that Mutu will be able to return sooner than expected.
“This afternoon, Adrian Mutu was submitted to Professor Paolo Aglietti’s team for arthroscopic surgery on his knee,” the memo read. “The inner meniscus, which was partially damaged, has been operated on without any further complications.
“His return to competitive action will be in around two to three weeks.”
The news is a boost to coach Cesare Prandelli, as it was feared that Mutu would not return until Fiorentina’s match with Atalanta on December 6.
Should all go to plan in the player’s recovery, he could potentially feature in the Gigliati’s crucial Champions League tie against Olympique Lyonnais on November 24.
