Football Transfer RumoursAccording to Football365, Girondins de Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh will be free of a contract come the end of June, and Manchester United are ready to make a move for the Moroccan international forward.

Chamakh, who has struck four times in Ligue 1 this season, was courted by the likes of Arsenal, Sunderland and West Ham United last summer, but all three clubs ultimately baulked at the price-tag slapped on the player.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has continued to show a decent level of performance at the Stade Chaban-Delmas this term and this has supposedly piqued the Red Devils’ interest, as they know that acquiring the player on a free transfer next summer would make him something of a bargain.

Bordeaux’s recent emergence as a European force, which culminated in a fine 2-0 away win against Bayern Munich earlier this week, has raised hopes around the Garonne that the player may yet be persuaded to stay, but he has remained coy on the matter so far.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Valencia and Juventus have all been linked with Chamakh in the French media of late, despite the Gunners stating that they would not pursue him further, after their flirtations last summer came to nothing.

Manchester United will have Chamakh watched on Sunday afternoon, when Bordeaux tackle Lille. The English giants will also use the match as an opportunity to catch up on exciting Dogues winger Eden Hazard, who, at 18-years-old, is one of the outstanding young talents in France.

Meanwhile, Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has indicated his willingness to offer new deals to Fernando, Fernando Cavenaghi, Jussie and Marc Planus in an interview with Sud-Ouest.
