Europa League: Hertha Through To Knock Out Stages After Win Against Sporting CP

Gojko KacarHertha Berlin are through to the Europa League knockout stages thanks to Gojko Kacar’s second half goal which earned them the win over Sporting CP. Needing only a point to advance, the Berliners were content to let Sporting have the lion’s share of possession in the early stages.

After a lacklustre 20 minutes the best chance of the game fell to Ramos who was set free inside the box and pounded a fierce drive which was scooped away by Patricio. From the resulting corner, Hertha broke the deadlock when Kacar got on the end of a crossfield delivery, which bypassed everyone in the box, and bundled the ball home from close range.

Hertha held on to send their frozen fans home happy on a chilly night in the German capital.
