Hertha Berlin are through to the Europa League knockout stages thanks to Gojko Kacar’s second half goal which earned them the win over Sporting CP. Needing only a point to advance, the Berliners were content to let Sporting have the lion’s share of possession in the early stages.

After a lacklustre 20 minutes the best chance of the game fell to Ramos who was set free inside the box and pounded a fierce drive which was scooped away by Patricio. From the resulting corner, Hertha broke the deadlock when Kacar got on the end of a crossfield delivery, which bypassed everyone in the box, and bundled the ball home from close range.

Hertha held on to send their frozen fans home happy on a chilly night in the German capital.
