Branislav Ivanovic To Extend Chelsea Contract

Branislav Ivanovic English Premier League Football NewsChelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is said to sign a new contract with the blues  in order to head off rumoured interest from Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti admires Ivanovic and wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge, especially as right-back Jose Bosingwa is facing another two months out injured.

Ivanovic has admitted his side need to address their recent poor form which has seen them win just once in the last five games.

“It is a very strong league, There are great teams, not just the big four. When you play away at the home of small teams you have to work hard because they defend strongly and try to score off set-pieces. You have to play every game to the maximum because, in the Premier League, they are all strong teams. If something happens and you don’t win, then the teams near to you in the league are very strong and can catch you. If you relax one per cent, you can lose goals and the result looks so different than if you played to your maximum. It is difficult to explain but I think that is why the Premier League is one of the best – for me the best in the world.” Ivanovic told Skysports.

Ivanovic only has one year left on his contract but Chelsea are hoping to extend it by another four years.
