Bosnia-Herzegovina Appoints Safet Susic As New Coach

Safet SusicThe Bosnian Football Federation – who were in the market for a new coach following the resignation of Miroslav Blazevic earlier this month – has announced Safet Susic as the new head coach of their national team with immediate effect. Blazevic stepped down following Bosnia’s failure to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

“I have been offered this post many times, but now that Bosnia has such a strong team it is a great honour for me and I accept it,” said the 54-year-old Susic to reporters.

Susic’s coaching career began with French outfit Cannes in 1994 before his first assignment in Turkey with Itanbulspor. A stint in Saudi Arabia followed with Al-Hilal before a number of further jobs in Turkey at Konyaspor, Ankaragucu, Rizespor and Ankaraspor.

He was voted the country’s greatest player of all time at UEFA’s Golden Jubilee in 2004. The former attacking midfielder played the majority of his career at Paris Saint-Germain.
