Esteban Granero hoped to perform well enough to earn more playing time with Real Madrid.

“Getting into the starting XI at Real Madrid is very difficult. If it were easy, this club would not be as great as it is, I have already gotten into the squad and I am working well. If I have the opportunity and luck to play, I will be prepared. I understand that Raul would take the pitch before me because he’s a player that can change the balance of a match in any moment. It is normal that he would have minutes.” he said at a press conference.

The Madrid youth product thinks he is progressing well and also believes to have coach Manuel Pellegrini’s confidence.

“It is difficult to play all the time. I am growing as a player and I am happy to be here at Real Madrid…although I need minutes”.

Finally, ‘El Pirata’ commented on the number of fans that attended Madrid’s first open training session this year.

“The kids were very happy to see us and it is a special day. It is a great thing to do, but in a measured fashion. Sometimes it is better to have private trainings so that one can focus more. We are happy to give this gift to the fans.”
