Leeds United’s Jermaine Beckford to Join Newcastle United

Football Transfer News – According to goal.com UK, Leeds United ace Jermaine Beckford – who spent time in Chelsea’s youth system as a teenager – has confirmed that he will be joining Newcastle United. He handed in a transfer request on Wednesday and it was revealed today that two bids from Newcastle had previously been rejected.

A third was submitted today, and though no communication from either club has been released to suggest an agreement has been reached, Beckford has spoken out, as if to signal a move is imminent.

Transfer speculation has surrounded Beckford this past week, with Newcastle considered his primary suitors, but Premier League clubs also creeping into contention for his signature.

“I’m off to Newcastle,” Beckford told goal

Beckford has made 28 appearances for League One leaders Leeds so far this season, scoring an impressive 20 goals.

The Leeds United striker has been the talk of the transfer window, not just for his impressive form in the first half of the season, but most of all for his goal that knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup on Sunday.
