Patrick Vieira Delighted to Join Manchester City

Football Transfer News – Manchester City have confirmed that Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira will be joining the club, and conversely to their summer overhaul that saw a collective sum of over £100 million spent, the talismanic and Premier League-experienced Frenchman was acquired on a six-month deal with a view to a further year.

Vieira, 33, told a press conference how happy he is to return to England

“I am delighted. I left the Premier League a long time ago, and am proud to be at City. I am happy because it is an ambitious club.”

Vieir insisted that he still had the fitness and ability to impress at the sky blues.

“I never had a doubt, I am confident. I know I’m not 20, but I am also not 40 or 45, I am still motivated.”

Regarding the motivations in signing for City, Vieira claimed that his former manager at Inter, Roberto Mancini, now also at Eastlands, was one of many factors.

“The manager knows me very well. I know I can give something to this club and hopefully we will be successful this year. I hope the club will give me the opportunity to get back into the French national team. “When you look at the players the club has, then we can achieve a lot. We are not out of the race for the title. We need to believe that we can do it.”

Vieira also mentioned that it will not be a big deal for him if he plays against Arsenal this season.

“I will feel the same way against Arsenal, as I do against the other teams.”

Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini was equally elated with the Vieira coup:

“His English is better than mine! Patrick, for me, is an important player and I think he will help us to arrive in the top four, I am sure. I know Patrick very well, I think our squad needed a player like Patrick. I see him as a regular player. He will improve our performance.” Mancini said.
