Football Transfer News – Lyon have signed promising Croatian defender Dejan Lovren from Dinamo Zagreb for a reported fee of €9 million.

The 20-year-old Lovren has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at his new club and will join Les Gones with immediate effect.

“Lyon have bought a jewel of a player. This is a big thing for our club, since we have shown that we are capable of selling a player for a high transfer fee in these times. This is a great move for Dejan and Lyon, and also for the Croatian national side,” said Dinamo sporting director Damir Vrbanovic.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were also in the race to secure the services of Lovren, but the Croatian international preferred a move to France.

Lovreb could make his official debut in Saturday’s away game against Nancy.
