Nesta Refuse to Play for Italy Again

Italian national team coach Marcello Lippi offered AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta to come back with Gli Azzurri, but Nesta rejected the offer.

Nesta decided to withdraw from the Italian national team after the 2006 World Cup due to his physical condition as he often suffers serious injuries. Nesta has now fully recovered and performed brilliantly with Milan and many have urged him to return Italian national team.

Lippi several times had tried to persuade Nesta to convince him to return before the Italy’s game against Cameroon, Wednesday (3 / 3).

Unfortunately Lippi’s approach could not change Nesta’s decision. Nesta was reluctant to take risks about his fitness by playing for Italy.

“He said, I’m sure with what I’, doing, that he did not like it (playing with the national team). I apologize. I want to surprise. But I respect his decision,” said Lippi.
