Zaccheroni To Drop Diego As Juventus Face Fiorentina

Sportmediaset.it reports that Juventus boss Alberto Zaccheroni will drop Brazilian midfielder Diego from the line-up for this weekend’s crucial match against Fiorentina.

The expensive player from Werder Bremen had a bad gameĀ  in the 2-0 loss to Palermo and could lose his place as Zaccheroni switches to a 4-3-3 formation.

After striker Vincenzo Iaquinta returned from injury, the system was tested in training with positive results, although his match fitness means he will not be able to play a full 90 minutes. Against the Viola, Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet will take two of the spots up front, while either Iaquinta or Michele Paolucci will start on the left.

“It’s good to have players like [Diego], but he can only deliver what we expect if he is in good condition,” revealed Zaccheroni.

Diego is still ranked as the top midfielder in Italy by the Castrol Rankings, but has slipped down the leaderboard steadily since November.
