Juan to Stay With Roma Until 2013

Globoesporte reports that before going home to Brazil to end his carreer, Roma defender Juan will remain with the Giallorossi for the duration of his contract until 2013.

“I have a contract with Roma until 2013 and my goal is to fulfil that commitment. Everyone knows the affection I have for Flamengo, and is sure they will be my first choice when I return to Brazil,” Juan said.

The 31-year-old has been one of the in-form players for the Giallorossi recently and suggested that the appointment of coach Claudio Ranieri, plus the return of several injured players, is responsible for the club’s turn-around.

“We started the season without being able to count on all players and today nearly the entire group is available to Ranieri,” suggested the Brazilian international, who joined Roma in 2007. the change of coach has helped with our motivation throughout the team. [Luciano] Spalletti has been one of the best coaches I have worked with, but sometimes a change of command is the required solution.

“We are winning more and I believe we can achieve our goals.”
