Spurs Sign Sandro From Internacional
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Sandro from Internacional.
The 21-year-old has passed a medical and will join up with his new Spur’s teammates at the end of Internacional’s Copa Libertadores campaign in the summer.
Manager Harry Redknapp believes the youngster has a bright future at the club.
“He is an outstanding young player who we feel has a great future,” he told his club’s official website.
“He is a strong and aggressive midfield player. We are looking forward to having him here with us next season.
“He has already played for Brazil and captained their youth sides too.”
Redknapp also praised chairman Daniel Levy’s dealing with transfer negotiations.
“The chairman has done a terrific job to make this happen. I think there were hard and protracted negotiations so a lot of credit must go to Daniel,” he added.
“There are not too many chairmen that would fly half way around the world to get a deal done and he has gone and flown personally to Brazil twice.”
Tottenham were thought to be first interested in Sandro during last summer’s transfer window.
However, a reported £14 million bid for the midfielder was rejected by Internacional.
In October, both Spurs and the Brazilian side agreed an affiliation which meant that the Premier League outfit would have the first chance of signing any of Internacional’s academy players.
The size of the transfer fee or the length of contract have yet to be disclosed. – goal
