Fabio Capello Prefers Coaching England to Italy

Fabio Capello insists that he is proud to be England manager and wouldn’t swap his position for the post of Italy boss, according to goal. But Capello is keen to face holders Italy in the World Cup final this summer, and insists that there would be no split loyalties if he faced Marcello Lippi’s side at Soccer City on July 11.

“I hope to play against Italy in the final or the semi-final but at that moment my shirt would be an England shirt. I would not swap my position with [Italy boss] Marcello Lippi. I prefer to be England manager.” ” Capello said.

After a less than convincing display against Mexico at Wembley on Monday night, it is clear that there is still work to be done if England are to compete with the top teams at the World Cup.

Despite a patchy first half, England recovered slightly in the second against Mexico and Capello insists that he would rather get the poor performances out the way before the tournament begins.

“I am not worried about that performance. It is important to make the mistakes now, We have time to work on these mistakes and other things that we have to do to be better, to ensure we play like I know this team can play because we have really good players. We need to recover the spirit of what we did in qualification.” he added.
