Luis Fabiano Extends Sevilla Contract Until 2013

Sevilla have announced that striker Luis Fabiano has signed a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2013.

The Brazilian forward has been subject of intense transfer speculation for the majority of the summer, but the 29-year-old has committed his future to los Nervionenses, ending interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Olympique Marseille.

The Ligue 1 side had reportedly made a bid for Fabiano, while Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had previously admitted that the London club were keen on securing the services of the former Porto attacker.

However, neither side were willing to meet the Andalucian side’s asking price, thought to be in the region of €18 million, and as a result the club acted quickly to secure Fabiano for the next three seasons.

During his time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Fabiano has struck an understanding with Frederic Kanoute and the pair have netted more than 200 goals between them during Sevilla’s most successful period in their history.

Since his arrival from Porto in 2005, Sevilla have collected two UEFA cups, two Copa del Rey crowns, as well as a Spanish Supercopa and European Super Cup.
