According to reports, Sunderland and Rennes are deep in talks about the transfer of Ghana star Asamoah Gyan.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is searching for a replace for Kenwyne Jones, who previously joined Stoke City. Besides that, Sunderland are also keen to get a new striker after Frazier Campbell was injured during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Bruce is looking for a striker before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday and Gyan who shone at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa might just be the one.
