Seydou Keita Signs New Barcelona Contract

Good news came from Seydou Keita. Barcelona decided to extend the contract term of the veteran Mali midfielder Mali until 2014.

Keita’s performance at Camp Nou, since his move from Seville in May 2008, is enough proof for coach Pep Guardiola too keep him in the squad.

The 30 year old actually still has two years  left of his previous contract. However, Guardiola decides to keep him at least until the next four years.

“As long as I am the coach of Barcelona, Keita will remain here,” said Guardiola, according to Reuters.

“Yes, because he is the most generous players I’ve ever known. He deserves to win everything, “said the coach who gave six titles for Barca, throughout 2009.

Not only an extension of contract period, Keita, who has recorded 93 appearances and 12 goals for Barca, are also given an additional clause worth 100 million euros in the new contract.

However, in order to get a regular place, Keita has to compete with other midfield ammunitions, such as Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, and new midfielder Javier Mascherano.
