Alex Ferguson Wants Berbatov to Score At least 25 Goals for Manchester United

Dimitar BerbatovSir Alex Ferguson believes that the magical performance of Dimitar Berbatov when they crushed Blackburn Rovers last week will continue. The Manchester United coach is optimistic that Berbatov is able to score at least 25 goals this season.

Nearing the end of the first half of the 2010/2011 season, the Bulgarian striker had scored 11 goals for the Red Devils, including five against Blackburn.

No doubt, Fergie put high hopes on the former Tottenham Hotspur star. He hopes Berba can improve United’s goal difference record, this season.

“We need two players to score 25 goals or more for the team. Last season, (Wayne) Rooney scored 34, while Berbatov only  scored 12,” said Ferguson, according to Daily Star.

“But, 25 goals is likely to be achieved by Berbatov this season. And, if Rooney’s return to his best performance, United can record a good result. Our goal difference last season was disappointing,” he continued.

“So far, United have 17 different scorers. They play well as a team. Berbatov (11), Nani scored 4 or 5, as well as Park Ji-sung. We’re just waiting for Rooney to shine again.”

The Red Devils are currently in the second position in the Premier League standings, following a delay of game against Blackpool due to bad weather. With one game in hand, United are just one point behind of Arsenal who leads the standings thanks to a 2-1 victory over Fulham.
