Experienced midfielder Marco Donadel appears to be on his way out of Serie A side Fiorentina as fellow Italian outfit Napoli have shown an interest in signing the 27-year-old, according to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Partenopei have been in the market for a new holding midfielder for quite a while now and had initially set their sights on Udinese’s Gokhan Inler. However, they have now apparently turned their attention to Donadel.

The midfielder started his professional career with Milan and also wore the jerseys of Lecce, Parma and Sampdoria before joining Fiorentina in the summer of 2007.

Donadel has developed into a key player at the Viola in the past few seasons and has made well over 150 official appearances for Fiorentina. He has an expiring deal though and contract negotiations haven’t led to a contract renewal yet. (goal)
