Queens Park Rangers Needs One More Step to Enter the Premier League

Queens Park Rangers promotionEnglish Championship division leaders, Queens Park Rangers (QPR), had to postpone their success to reach the Premier League after a 1-1 draw against Hull City on Monday (25/4).

QPR is currently leading the Championship standings with a five points advantage from second place Norwich City. Automatic promotion to the Premier League was supposed to be a certainty last weekend if QPR could beat Cardiff City. But, against a team who also are targeting promotions they were forced to share points 2-2.

The second opportunity came when they faced Hull City in front of his own supporters who packed Loftus Road. Wayne Routledge scored in the ninth minute increasingly fueled optimism of the host to get back to the highest level of English football. Similarly, when a free kick Adel Taarabt captain missed the target narrowly.

Hull finally managed to equalize after Daniel Amoo escaped an off-side trap. By the final whistle the game, fans are ready to celebrate the success of promotions as Norwich was held a draw Derby County at Carrow Road. The party had to be postponed as Simeon Jackson dramatically gave Norwich a 3-2 victory.

This weekend, QPR will face Watford. A draw is enough for Neil Warnock’s troops to win the Championship and realize their ambition of competing in the Premier League next season.

Second automatic promotion ticket is still contested between Norwich, Cardiff, and Swansea City. All three are likely to follow the play-offs if failed to get automatic promotion. One other play-off tickets almost certainly will be taken by Reading so it leaves one remaining ticket for either Nottingham Forest, Millwall, Burnley, Leeds United, and Hull.
