Torsten Frings Leaves Werder Bremen

Torsten FringsFormer German international player, Torsten Frings, will leave Werder Bremen after six years at the club called Die Werderaner.

“I must accept this reality. It’s a shame,” said Frings to a local newspaper Kreiszeitung Syk.

Frings, 34-year-old, still wants to be with Werder Bremen but the club management did not offer a new contract. His current contract will expire in June 2011.

“I might have to say goodbye, and I hope that Werder Bremen will be better next season,” he continued.

Frings is a player with quite a high salary, around four million euros per season. Werder Bremen do not want to offer a new contract, fearing that Frings will refuse salary reduction.

“Fans have accused me to only care about money. That’s not true. There is no offer that I reject or accepted, because I did not get it,” said Frings.

Frings has 79 caps for the German national team. He appeared 402 times in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and six years with Werder Bremen.
