Juventus Eyeing Real Madrid Winger Royston Drenthe

Royston DrentheAccording to Tuttosport, highly-rated winger Royston Drenthe appears to be on his way out of Real Madrid on a permanent basis as struggling Serie A giants Juventus have again expressed an interest in signing the Netherlands international.

Juve are keen to add a left winger to their squad this summer and had initially set their sights on Olympique Lyonnais’ Michel Bastos. Nevertheless, the Italian outfit have also targeted Atletico Madrid’s Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero, and as they are only allowed to sign one non-EU player per season. they have now turned their attention to Drenthe instead.

The 24-year-old joined Real Madrid from Eredivisie side Feyenoord in the summer of 2007, but the flamboyant Dutchman has never been able to live up to expectations at Santiago Bernabeu.

The winger was farmed out on loan to Hercules this term and will return to Madrid this summer, but he appears to be surplus to requirements at the Copa del Rey winners, and is widely expected to move on.

Drenthe was already close to joining Juventus on a six-month loan deal in the January transfer window, but the deal eventually fell through as Hercules refused to let him leave Alicante for Italy. (goal)
