Sunderland Signs South Korean Striker Ji Dong-Won
Sunderland official signs young South Korean striker Ji Dong-Won. The transfer value of the forward from Chunnam Dragons was not mentioned. Ji himself gets a three-year contract from the Black Cats.
The recruitment of the 20 year old striker could not be separated from his great appearance at the 2011 Asian Cup. He scored four goals to bring South Korea to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they lost on penalties from Japan.
Ji has 11 caps with the national team and had collected six goals. He joined Dragons last year. At the club, the player who is also wanted by PSV Eindhoven is the mainstay of the front-line and scored 16 goals in 44 matches.
Ji is the second player who had been signed by Sunderland. A few days ago, they brought Connor Wickham from Ipswich.
Thus, manager Steve Bruce has bought four new players, including goalkeeper Kieren Westwood from Coventry City. Bruce also signed Birmingham City winger Sebastian Larsson.
