Bochum Interested in Cerezon Osaka Midfielder Takashi Inui

Takashi InuiGerman 2.Bundesliga club Bochum have reignited their interest in Takashi Inui, with the club’s team manager, Jens Todt, flying out to Osaka to complete a deal for the Japan international, according to Bild.

Todt is understood to have travelled to Japan to negotiate a deal with the 23-year-old’s current club Cerezo Osaka, who previously sold Shinji Kagawa to Borussia Dortmund for €350,000.

“The player and us want the deal. But financially there are still discrepancies. I want to dispel those,” Todt told Bild.

Sports Hochi reported Bochum were interested in Inui in June, but the deal appeared dead when an agreement couldn’t be reached.

However, the Germans have revived their offer following the sale of Anther Yahia to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, and boss Friedhelm Funkel told Bild that he was an admirer of Japanese footballers, having previously worked with several players from the Asian nation.

“They integrate very quickly. I’ve had a good experience in Frankfurt with [Naohiro] Takahara and [Junichi] Inamoto. And in Bochum with Shinji Ono, [who] was also a fan favourite,” Funkel said.

Inui, who has made three national team appearances, has scored four goals in 13 J-League appearances in 2011.
