Bayer Leverkusen Goalkeeper Fabian Giefer Suffer from Amnesia

Fabian GieferA head injury suffered by Fabian Giefer could be said to be quite serious. The Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper have to suffer from amnesia because of it.

Giefer experienced a clash in his head that forced him to undergo treatment in the field when Bayer Leverkusen was defeated 0-2 by FSV Mainz in the German Bundesliga’s first week.

Giefer collided with Mainz player Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 84th minute. He could continue the match until the end, and was treated in a hospital after the match.

After given treatment and allowed to leave the hospital, Giefer revealed his condition that he could not recall events that have been experienced over the last month.

“I do not remember at all,” he told the Daily Express.

“I do not even remember how we played. I can not remember our preparation for the game, hotels in Mainz or at training camp in the Zillertal.”

“I lost a part of my memory the last month and it is pretty scary,” he admits.

Giefer also admitted that he does not remember the game against Mainz and his mistake that led to one goal.

“I do not remember the mistakes I made,” he said.
