Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema is eagerly anticipating the 2011-12 season and is confident that it will be a great year for the Santiago Bernabeu side.

The Copa del Rey holders missed out on the league title last term, but they’re full of ambition after a successful pre-season.

“We have a lot of objectives this season. We’ve enjoyed a good pre-season at a high level. It’s going to be a long campaign as we’ll be active in all competitions, but it will be a great year for us,” Benzema said to AS.

“I have done everything possible to be ready for the new season. I’m at my ideal weight now and both the head and the legs are right.

“I have gained a lot of experience since joining Real Madrid and I’m looking to continue the form from the second half of last term.”

Benzema has scored 23 goals in 60 La Liga appearances for the Spanish giants since joining them from Lyon in the summer of 2009.
