Anderlecht Sign Dieumerci Mbokani from Monaco

Dieumerci MbokaniAnderlecht have completed the transfer of Dieumerci Mbokani from Monaco on a three-year deal, the club announced on Thursday.

The Belgians paid the Ligue 1 outfit €3 million for his services. Mbokani only signed with Monaco last summer for a fee of €7m.

A statement on Anderlecht’s official website reads:

“AS Monaco and RSC Anderlecht have reached an agreement on the definitive transfer of Dieumerci Mbokani on Tuesday, August 11, 2011. Provided that Mbokani passes the medical tests, he will play for the Purple & White for the next three seasons plus a one-year option.”

The 25-year-old is delighted with the deal and can’t wait to prove his critics wrong.

“I intend to show that my career is far from dead and I plan on scoring many goals for Anderlecht,” he said, according to France Football.

The attacker enjoyed a reasonable return of 35 goals in 81 appearances at Standard Liege before departing for France last summer. He also had a loan spell at Anderlecht previously in 2006 where he scored four times in nine games.
