Chivas youngster Ulises Davila to Join Chelsea
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to bring Mexican Ulises Davila to Stamford Bridge for £1.75 million ($2.9m).
Davila currently plays for Chivas and featured in the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Colombia earlier this month, attracting the interest of several top European clubs as a result.
De Telegraaf claim that Chelsea have already agreed to send him on loan to Dutch side Vitesse as he won’t initially be eligible for a work permit in the UK and needs experience playing in Europe.
The striker would follow in the footsteps of Blues players such as Tomas Kalas, Matej Delac and Nemanja Matic who have all enjoyed loan spells at Vitesse.
Chelsea reportedly faced stiff competition from the likes of Ajax and PSV to secure the signature of Davila.
New coach Andre Villas-Boas has spoken of his desire to increase the youth scouting and development system at Chelsea as an early priority.
