Inter Milan are hot on the trail of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze, according to a report in calciomercato.

The Serie A giants are thought to be in the market for at least one more summer signing as they look to replace Anzahi Makhachkala-bound Samuel Eto’o and strengthen their squad.

Initial reports suggested Inter were looking to sign a direct replacement for the Cameroonian in the form of Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan, but it is now believed that Gotze is viewed as an alternative.

Gotze, 19, has emerged as one of the most sought-after names in Europe since breaking into Borussia Dortmund’s senior ranks in 2009, having played an important part in the club’s championship last season.

The transfer of the Germany international, who netted in the 3-2 friendly win over Brazil earlier in the month, would reportedly cost Inter a fee in the region of €20 million.
