Netherlands Tops FIFA World Ranking

The Spain national team have lost their position at the top of world football to the Netherlands in the latest release of the Fifa world rankings.

The European and world champions have moved down to second after a 2-1 friendly defeat to Italy earlier in the month, which also moved the 2006 winners up one place to seventh.

Brazil, who lost 3-2 against Germany in Stuttgart, are now sixth and fall behind Copa America winners Uruguay in the table.

Despite having their friendly against the Netherlands called off, England have moved up two positions because of Brazil’s misfortunes.

France remain 15th, together with the Ivory Coast and Japan, after a 1-1 draw against Chile, while Russia have jumped five places to 13th after beating Serbia 1-0.
