Nuri Sahin Ready to Make Real Madrid Debut Against Galatasaray
Nuri Sahin is set to make his Real Madrid debut against Galatasaray in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy on Wednesday after recovering from a knee injury, according to Marca.
The 22-year-old signed for the Spanish giants earlier in the summer after spearheading Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title in 2010-11, but has yet to wear the white of his new club.
The game should hold special importance to the former Feyenoord man, as he will be playing against a club from his homeland of Turkey.
Sahin will likely be fighting for a place in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI this campaign, with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira also hoping for a midfield spot.
Madrid have won the last six Santiago Bernabeu trophies, and will look to use the game as a warm-up for the potential first game of the Liga season on Sunday against Real Zaragoza should it go ahead. There are still doubts over fixtures due to the ongoing players’ strike.
Galatasaray will have new signings Johan Elmander, Tomas Ujfalusi and Fernando Muslera in the match squad.
