Bad news for Villarreal and the Italian national team. Giuseppe Rossi must be sidelined for about six months because of a knee injury.

This news has been confirmed by Villarreal through their official website.

“The worst fears have been confirmed. Giuseppe Rossi suffered a serious injury on his right knee against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be out for six months,” a statement on the club’s official website reads.

Rossi was injured when his team lost 0-3 against Madrid in the La Liga on Thursday (27/10).  After the game, the club immediately conducted an intensive examination. The result showed that the player suffered a disruption in the right knee ligament.

This news is not good for Villarreal who are experiencing tough times this season. This news is also not good for the Italian national team preparing for Euro 2012.
