Malouda: Chelsea’s Main Target is Winning the Premier League
Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, revealed that winning the Premier League is still the top priority for ‘The Blues’ this season.
Since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took over the club in late 2003, Chelsea have won three Premier League titles, three FA Cup trophies and two Carling Cup trophies. Although the Blues achieved success in domestic competition, Abramovich is still not satisfied before Chelsea wins the Champions League.
Chelsea finally appoints Andre Villas-Boas, who became the fifth manager since Abramovich’s arrival, to win the European title this season. Even so, Malouda insists that the Premier League title remains a top priority for the club based in the Stamford Bridge.
“Being the English Premier League champions is still our top priority,” said Malouda, according to espnstar. “You need to start well early in the season and ended it well, too. Now we are entering a period where we play lots of games and any points gained is very important,” he added.
“We remain calm and will face Arsenal at the weekend. With a victory, we can expect great things to happen for the rest of this season,” said Malouda.
Although the Carling Cup seems less attractive than the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, but the Carling Cup is the only domestic title that has not been won by Malouda, so he makes it one of his target this season.
“Of course we want to win the Carling Cup. We feel if we could win the competition in February, then it would be a great start to a great solution for us,” he said.
Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League standings and six points behind of Manchester City who is currently the league leaders.
