Marcus Bent Joins Indonesian Club Mitra Kukar
Newly-promoted Indonesian Premier League club Mitra Kukar have officially signed former English Premier League striker Marcus Bent.
The 33-year-old former Blackburn, Everton, Ipswich and Birmingham City striker agreed to a one-year contract which was offered by the club’s management.
Previously, the club which is nicknamed as Dragon Mekes, also signed former Cameroon international and 1998 and 2002 World Cup player Pierre Njanka.
Mita Kukar manager Aji Ari Junaidi said: “We signed with Bent for a year or one season of the competition.”
Junaidi added, with the 33-year-old goalscorer, the “dream team” Mitra Kukar will increasingly be considered the new powerhouse of the Indonesian Premier League.
The former England Under-21 international is a journeyman striker, having played for 14 different clubs, playing over 570 games and scoring 110 goals in the process during his career previously spent entirely in England.
Bent completee the quota of Mitra Kukar foreign players, which previously has recruited Lee Sang-Min (South Korea), Pierre Njanka (Cameroon) and Nemanja Obric (Serbia).
